DS2 won't wear socks. He had canvas converse shoes for a few months, but they didn't have the velcro ones this time at the store, so he got others.
MAN his feet smell. He walks into a room and I know he's there. I sprayed some stuff in his shoes, but I'm not sure that's going to do much.
A friend of mine has her kids wear crocs pretty much year round. I should say they WANT to wear crocs pretty much year round. That way, they don't have to wear socks. it doesn't snow here, but when it's wet and there's frost on the grass, I wouldn't think that shoes with holes were the answer, but hey, the oldest one wears shorts in winter, too.

I've heard that if you stuff wadded up newspapers in the shoes overnight, every night, that takes away the smell. Not sure how effective it is on seriously-strong smelling shoes though...worth a try! If you want to save the shoes, that is...
I had problems with a pair of my own shoes. I got some lysol disinfectant spray that I spray them with before and after I wear them. It worked. They were smelling so bad that if I took them off my brother would ask his son if he made a poop.
My kids would rather be barefoot all year round. They have to wear shoes with sock to school (DH's rule), and if they go outside, either they have bare feet or shoes on (my rule to save the socks).
