international news

Some Saudi Arabian women are organizing a boycott of lingerie stores because the only people hired by the stores are men and the women don't want to discuss their underpants with them.

So on the one side, it is an attempt to make more jobs for women.

On the other side, though, it is fairly puritanical and totally within the aims of keeping women "modest".

I generally don't discuss my lingerie with anyone at all when I buy it, so I'm not sure where I fall on this. And yes, I know that I should be measured for a bra before choosing and trying one on, but I'm pretty squicky about even women measuring me.
