For my book group that I missed last night: I wasn't actually in labor till about the time I would have got home or a little after. Dh needed the car.
The kids slept through the whole thing. They woke up when she was crying about an hour and a half later when the midwives were measuring and poking and prodding, not when I was saying "ow! ow! ow!" rather loudly or even when she was crying and had not yet figured out where to get the milk out.
So anyway, it was almost 5 and the door handle turned. DH went and looked out and DS2 took back off down the hall and went in his room and locked the door (!) and went back to bed. He doesn't seem to remember it this morning, so I bet he was just wandering off to Mom and Dad's bed, just barely awake. I didn't even realize it was him because right on the heels of that, DS1 came in and took a look around for a couple of minutes. He went back to bed, too, but came back a little later when the midwife had swaddled the baby and DH was holding her.
So DH's alarm went off at 6:30 because he had forgotten to turn it off - he had intended to go to some breakfast meeting. My alarm went off at 7 and I poked at DH to get him to get the kids ready for school. I made a couple of local calls, including for a friend to give the boys a ride to school (DH called my mom and his mom in the middle of the night - which was morning in my mom's time zone and early afternoon in his) and had to get up to use the facilities, so went and sat on the couch until the kids' ride got here. Then went back to bed for 3 1/2 hours.
Isabelle's still sleeping. She woke up briefly to cough up the mucus and such and rooted around like she was going to nurse again, but went back to sleep instead. I was lying on my side and having too many after pains to go back to sleep. I was also hungry, but now I've had some cereal and I think I'll go back to bed, too.
I don't think I got any photos of the horse trough and the midwife packed it up and took it with her. Rats.
